Beauty Blender Review

beautyblender - Ultimate Make Up Sponge Applicator
Hi Everyone!
I am sure that many of you have heard about the Beauty Blender Makeup Sponge. I have been contemplating buying one for quite some time now but paying £14.50 for a sponge always seemed a little crazy to me! I have tried the usual wedge shaped make up sponges that you can buy from drugstores over the years and never really like them all that much, mainly because I feel that they absorb most of the product! I usually apply my liquid foundation using a brush such as the Sigma F60 which can be a bit streaky especially if you are in a rush or by using my fingers which can be a little patchy. A few days ago I was browsing on  the Beauty Bay site ordering an OPI nail polish when I saw the Beauty Blender advertised and thought 'why not give it a go?'
My Beauty Blender arrived a couple of days ago and I am already in love with it! It is a hot pink, egg shaped sponge that is really soft and springy. When you are ready to use it place it in your hand under luke warm running water then gently squeeze it out in a towel, the sponge should be damp but not wet and will have grown to nearly double its original size. I have been using the sponge to apply my Makeup Forever HD Foundation, I pump the foundation onto the back of my hand then dip the bottom of the sponge into it. I hold the sponge at the tip end and apply the foundation by bouncing/ stippling the sponge against my face. This gives you an almost airbrushed effect which is amazing. I then use the pointed end of the sponge to apply the foundation to the sides of my nose and around my eyes. You can also use short downward strokes to complete the blending process if you wish. You can then use the blender to applying your under-eye concealer and setting powder if you desire. I also find that it applies cream blush really well too.

In order to clean your sponge it is recommended that you use the Blender Cleanser which you get a small sample of when you buy or sponge and is also sold separately. To clean it you simply pour some of the cleanser onto the damp sponge and work it into a lather with you fingers then rinse under the tap using luke warm water, then gently dry in a towel and leave to air dry fully.
Overall, I am truly amazed at how well the Beauty Blender both applies and blends out your foundation with very little effort involved at all, I can't imagine that I will return to using a brush or my fingers any time soon. Other brands, such as Sonya Kashuk, have brought out similar make up sponges but from the reviews that I have read online, they do not seem to perform as well. The biggest downside to the product is obviously it's price, I personally feel that it is worth it as it is roughly the same price as any high-end foundation brush.
I purchased my Beauty Blender from Beauty Bay for £14.50. You can also purchase it from Amazon here:  beautyblender - Ultimate Make Up Sponge Applicator. The Blender Cleanser can also be purchased from Beauty Bay for £13.50 and from Amazon here: beautyblender Blender Cleanser 3 oz (90 ml)
5 stars out of 5 from me!
Maz x
