Jouer Lychee Lip Creme - Review & Swatch

Hi Everyone!

Thanks to celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, liquid lipsticks are very popular at the moment! They have great advantages such as easy application, great pigmentation and staying power! I have tried quite a few from various brands and recently I decided to give Jouer Cosmetics a go! This is the first product from them that I have tried and I had heard great things about their liquid lipsticks online! I picked up one of their Long- Wear Lip Creme's in the colour Lychee which is described as a 'matte cool dusty rose'.

Current Favourite MAC Lipsticks

Hi everyone!

Today I thought that I would share my favourite MAC lipsticks with you. I love MAC lipsticks and have far too many in my collection but these are the ones that I reach for the most! I feel that MAC offer such a fantastic range of colour and finish options that there is something to suit everyone and the price point is pretty good too!

Charlotte Tilbury Golden Goddess Lip Kit - Review & Swatches

Hi everyone!

I love Charlotte Tilbury! The products, the packaging, the lady herself, maybe not the price, but you get my drift! I have a few of her eye palettes but I decided I wanted to give one of the lipsticks a go! I'd had my eye on Stoned Rose for a while now and got suckered in to buying the 'Golden Goddess' Lip Kit by the lovely artist at the Trafford Centre! All three products are available to purchase separately, however Charlotte herself recommends that the three are worn together! Who am I to argue with that?!

The kit contains the following:

Stoned Rose Lipstick: A warm, nude rose colour. This lipstick is beautiful. It applied smoothly and evenly and has a slightly glossy finish. The colour is really flattering and would suit a range of skin tones. The packaging is stunning too! The lipstick costs £23 when purchased alone.

Pillow Talk Lip Cheat Lip Pencil: This is a pinky-nude lip liner and I love it! It is close to the natural lip colour so would suit a lot of different lipsticks. It applies smoothly and evenly and isn't too drying. The pencil is priced at £16.

Ibiza Nights Lip Lustre: This is a sheer, sparkly champagne colour. I'm not a massive fan of lip gloss if I'm honest but this is really nice! It's a pretty universal shade and would look nice paired with a wide range of lipsticks. Its priced at £16.50 which is expensive!

(L to R) Pillow Talk, Stoned Rose, Ibiza Nights, Ibiza Nights over Stoned Rose
(Swatched on MAC NW20 skin for reference).

This set is gorgeous and there is no doubt that the three products work beautifully together. However, I would probably give the lip gloss a miss, it is nice but there are other glosses on the market which are more affordable and would give a similar effect! The lip pencil and lipstick do get a big thumbs up from me though!

You can purchase this set for £49 and the each of the products individually from Charlotte Tilbury

NARS A Woman's Face Neutral Lip Set

Hi everyone!

So it's that time of year again where all of our favourite beauty brands bring out gift sets for the holiday season. This year NARS have teamed up with photographer Steven Klein to offer a range of great sets!

This set is called 'A Woman's Face' and is one of two lip sets available. This one contains neutral shades and includes Dolce Vita Lipstick, Dolce Vita Matte Lip Pencil and Patong Beach Velvet Lip Liner.

Dolce Vita Lipstick

Dolce Vita lipstick is a cult product from NARS and is a 'warm rose shade'. The colour pay off is quite sheer but can be amped up by applying the lip pencil first for a stronger look.

(L to R) Patong Beach Pencil and Dolce Vita Velvet Matte Lip Pencil

Both the Lip Liner Pencil and the Velvet Matte Pencil apply smoothly and evenly and both have excellent staying power thanks to their matte finish. The Matte Lip Pencil is also fantastic is you love the Dolce Vita colour but would like more colour pay off than you get with the original lipstick alone.

(L to R) Patong Beach Lip Pencil, Dolce Vita Matte Lip Pencil, Dolce Vita Lipstick
(Shown on MAC NW20 skin, for reference).

Overall, I really like this set. You get a good amount of product for your money (remember this is NARS!) and its a great way to try out the product ranges included, I also think that this set will appeal to a lot of people and look great on a large range of skin tones.

You can purchase this set from NARS here for £29

MAC Red Lipsticks

Hi Everyone!
A couple of Weeks ago I shared my pink MAC lipsticks with you and today I thought that I would write a quick post about my red ones. I love red lipsticks and own 5 MAC ones. I know that red can be quite a difficult colour to wear but I find that if I exfoliate my lips then add a lip primer followed by a suitable pencil, the lipstick looks great. If you are new to wearing red lipsticks I would go for a more coral based red such as Barcelona Red.

(L to R) Spice It Up, Lady Bug, Barcelona Red, Viva Glam Cyndi, Viva Glam 1

DESCRIPTIONS:

Spice It Up: Muted brown berry
Lady Bug: Yellow tomato
Barcelona Red: Coral-red
Viva Glam Cyndi: Coral-red
Viva Glam 1: Intense brownish blue-red

I hope that you have found this post interesting and useful. Please feel free to share you favourite red MAC lipsticks with me in the comments section below.

MAC To Catch a Sailor Lipstick - Review & Swatch

Hi Everyone!
I have another one of the lipstick's from MAC's Hey Sailor collection to share with you which I was lucky enough to receive as a gift from my friend for my birthday! This one is called 'To Catch a Sailor' and is described as 'highly frosted tan'. This isn't the sort of colour that I would usually go for but I was intrigued after seeing one of Tiffany D's videos on YouTube.

I love the sailor themed packaging on the Hey Sailor collection! This lipstick is great. It gives a lovely frosty finish to the lips and isn't too golden. It's great when wearing a more dramatic eye for an evening look as it's fairly neutral but gives you that little bit extra!

SWATCH SHOWN ON NW20 SKIN:

You can purchase this lipstick from MAC for £14 (please note: this item is limited edition).

MAC Salute! Lipstick - Review & Swatch

Hi Everyone!
MAC has just released it's Hey Sailor! collection here in the UK and I picked up one of the 4 lipsticks in the colour Salute! which is described as  "neutral peach" and has an amplified finish.

Hey Sailor! packaging

Firstly I have to say that I love the nautical packaging on this collection! The lipstick tube has a really nice glossy finish as opposed to the usual MAC lipstick packaging.

SWATCH SHOWN ON NW20 SKIN:

As you can see from the picture above this is quite an orangey toned neutral colour. The lipstick is very pigmented as with all of MAC's Amplified finishes. I have found that the lipstick looks better if I use my finger to blend it in. It also looks great with a golden lipgloss over the top such as Stila's Kitten.

I have a few peachy nude lipsticks in my collection so here are some swatches for comparison:

(L to R) MAC Salute! Sleek Barely There, MAC Ravishing, MAC Shy Girl, Revlon Peach Parfait

You can purchase the new Hey Sailor! collection from MAC for £14
Please let me know in the comments section below if you have purchased anything from the collection and what you think of it!

Shop MAC Cook MAC Collection Lipsticks - Review & Swatches

Hi Everyone!

I have 2 of the new, limited edition lipsticks from the Shop MAC, Cook MAC Collection to show you today. The collection has not yet been released in every MAC store and counter here in the UK but is available online from Selfridges (and possibly in their stores, I am not sure)!

First up I purchased Dish it up which is described as a medium-dark fuchsia based plum colour. It has a lustre finish which I like as they are supposed to be moisturising and has a really nice buildable coverage. This is a gorgeous lipstick and as I like plum shades I think I will get a lot of wear out of it. I am a big fan of MAC's Plumful lipstick which is similar to Dish it up but not quite as purple.

Secondly I went for Make me Simmer which is a bright, true coral shade with an amplified finish which makes it really pigmented. This would look great in summer with a tan but is very bright so not for the faint hearted! It is similar, in my opinion, to MAC's Ultra Darling Sheen Supreme lipstick but much brighter.

(L to R) Dish it up, Make me Simmer

You can purchase these lipsticks from Selfridges for £13.50 each.

Smashbox Limitless Lip Stain & Color Seal Balm

Lip Stain
Hi Everyone!
This is the Smashbox Limitless Lip Stain and Colour Seal Balm in Guava which is a bright coral-red colour. This is the first lip product that I have purchased from Smashbox and also the first lip stain that I have tried. This product if a marker pen style lip stain at one end and a balm at the other. First you apply the lip stain to clean lips by outlining your lips and then filling them in (there is no need to use a regular lip liner with this product). You then apply the balm over the top of this when it has fully dried to to make your lips feel smoother and to refresh the colour throughout the day. The one thing that has put me off from buying lip stains before is that I feared that they would cause my lips to dry out.

Lip Balm

I was really attracted to this colour as I love red red lipsticks but hate how they can feather quite badly and end up on you teeth! I applied Guava Lip Stain mid afternoon to go shopping and out for dinner with my friends. The colour is really bright and eye catching and certainly got a few comments! I did find that my lips felt very dry through the day so I applied the balm quite a few times but I never had to worry about the colour bleeding or getting onto my teeth (does anyone remember Mrs Doyle from Father Ted? Not a good look!) which is a massive advantage. I did not re-apply the stain at all during the day and ate a meal, when I arrived home around 60% of the colour was still in place, only the inner parts of my lips had worn off. This is great compared to a regular lipstick but does not quite live up to Smashbox's 8 hours of full coverage claim.
Swatches shown on NW 20 skin-

(L to R) Lip Stain, Lip Balm, Lip Balm layered over the Lip Stain

I feel that this product has some pretty major pros and cons! A major pro to it is that it is a great way to wear a bright shade without having to worry about it budging which is great. It also eliminates the need to use a separate lip liner. The disadvantages to this product is that it does make your lips feel dry despite the balm and is fairly difficult to remove fully at the end of the day. The product is priced at £21.50 in the UK which I feel is very expensive and, in my opinion, not worth the money which is why I won't be re-purchasing. Overall I would give the product 2 and a half stars out of 5.

I purchased my lip stain from Debenhams for £21.50 and you can also get it from Amazon here: Smashbox Limitless Lip Stain & Color Seal Balm Petal

Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick in Good-to-go

Hi all,

I really wanted to write a short post about Benefit's Silky Finish Lipstick in Good-to-go. This is one of the very few non MAC lipsticks in my collection. I have to admit that I purchased it after reading that it was the lipstick used on Kristin Stewart's character Bella in the first Twilight Movie! I am such a big fan of The Twilight Saga so I had to snap it up! Another Silky Finish Lipstick by Benefit called Ms Behavin' was apparently used on the Cullen Family in the movie but I'm pretty sure that it has been discontinued in the UK.
Here is the swatch shown on NW20 skin:

The lipstick is a brownish-plum colour and is lovely. It is kind of a plummy version of MAC's Viva Glam 5 lipstick and is great for day or night. The silky finish lipsticks are a little like MAC's Slimshine lipsticks which I don't think are available any more. They provide you with the application and pigmentation of a lipstick and give you the shine of a lipgloss which is great. I could liken them to MAC's new Sheen Supreme Lipsticks. I own 3 Sheen Supreme lipstick's and I have to say that I slightly prefer them to the Benefit one as I felt that it dried out my lips a little and didn't stay in place as well as the MAC ones do.
As I previously mentioned my reason for buying this product was due to it's use in the first Twilight movie so I will always love it for that! If you are looking for this type of lipstick I would recommend the MAC Sheen Supreme's over the Benefit Silky Finishes!
The lipstick is priced at £14 in the UK.

MAC Sheen Supreme Lipsticks

Full Speed, Ultra Darling, Can't Resist
Hi Everyone!

This is a post about MAC's new Sheen Supreme Lipsticks, I own 3 of these in Full Speed, Ultra Darling and Can't Resist. These lipsticks are great as they give you the application and pigmentation of a lipstick and the shine of a lipgloss with being gloopy or sticky.
Here are the swatches shown on NW20 skin followed by their official descriptions:

Full Speed, Ultra Darling, Can't Resist

Full Speed: Bright clean yellow pink
Ultra Darling: Mid-tone yellow pink
Can't Resist: Golden purplish red
Full Speed is a gorgeous bright, almost neon-looking pink that is not as scary as it looks in the tube! I love this colour to brighten up my face on a summers day. Ultra Darling is my favourite of the 3 lipsticks and is a beautiful coral pink. Can't resist is a deep berry shade that is so sophisticated and really complements a brown smokey eye for a night out on the town.
The lipsticks glide on to your lips really smoothly and feels really moisturising. The consistency of the lipstick does feel a little thicker than the normal MAC lipsticks but they are still very comfortable to wear and stay on really well. I know that Benefit and Chanel have brought out their own versions of a lipstick-lipgloss fusion too, I have tried one of the Benefit ones and found that it dried out my lips and I haven't tried a Chanel one yet.
I would recommend these lipsticks to anyone who wants that extra bit of gloss without compromising on colour pigmentation.
5 stars out of 5 from me!
The Lipsticks are priced at £13.50 in the UK and are currently available in 14 shades.

MAC Lip Pencils

Hi Everyone!
I am a big fan of lipsticks and not as keen on lip glosses (mainly because I hate it when my hair gets stuck in it)! I find that your lipstick appears much cleaner and richer and stays in place longer if you first apply a lip pencil. I begin by lining the lip line and then fill in the entire lip which creates a great base for the lipstick and prevents the unwanted and obvious line around the edge of your lips! Lip pencil's can also prevent darker colours from 'bleeding'.

So here are the swatches of the MAC Lip Pencils that I own followed by their official descriptions and the MAC Lipsticks that I like to pair them with. (Swatches shown on NW15 skin).

(L to R) Subculture, Oak, Stripdown, Spice, Plum

(L to R) Dervish, Magenta, Beet, Chicory, Cherry, Redd

Subculture: Underground pink - with - Marquise'd, Freckletone
Oak: Soft beige-brown - with - Creme de Nude, Blankety
Stripdown: Naked nutmeg - with - Fresh Brew, Myth
Spice: Pink cinnamon stick - with - Viva Glam 5, On Hold
Plum: Potent reddened plum - with - Plumful
Dervish: Low key mauve - with - Fabby, Bombshell, Syrup, Please Me, Angel, Creme Cup, Pink Nouveau
Magenta: Vivid pinkish-purple - with - Milan Mode, Troublemaker
Beet: Vivid reddish-pink - with - Viva Glam Cyndi, Plum Dandy
Chicory: Soft muted peachy-brown - with - Barcelona Red, Ravishing
Cherry: Vivid bright blueish-red - with - Girl About Town
Redd: Bright true red - with - Lady Bug

I hope that this post has been helpful to you all! I know pairing lipsticks with suitable lip liners can be tricky!

Top 10 MAC Lipsticks

The next in my series of top 10's in MAC lipsticks! I find it so hard to choose my favourites as I love my entire collection (and there are a few more than 10 in it)!!! Swatches are shown on NW20 skin.

(L to R) Milan Mode, Plum Dandy, Plumful, Ultra Darling Sheen Supreme Lipstick, Viva Glam Cyndi

(L to R) Creme D' Nude, Angel, Please Me, Fabby, Bombshell

Official Descriptions -
Milan Mode - Lustre - Sheer deep pink with multi-dimensional pearl
Plum Dandy - Frost - Show off plum frosted with bronze
Plumful - Lustre - Blossoming rose-plum
Sheen Supreme - Ultra Darling - Mid tone yellow pink
Viva Glam Cyndi - Light reddish coral
Creme D' Nude - Cremesheen - Pale muted beige
Angel - Frost - Soft pink
Please Me - Matte - Muted-rosy-tinted pink
Fabby - Frost - Mid tone mauve with gold pearl
Bombshell - Frost - Soft bright rosy-pink with golden shimmer
So that is my top 10 MAC lipsticks! I love MAC lipsticks, there are so many colours and finishes and they feel great to wear! Creme D'Nude is the perfect nude lip and I prefer it to Myth. Angel and Please Me are my 'go to' pink lipsticks and Fabby and Bombshell are a pink but with a little something extra! I love to wear Plum Dandy and Plumful when I go for a night out with Date Night Dazzleglass over the top! I would say that my very, very favourite lipstick ever is Viva Glam Cyndi! It is the most wonderful red-coral shade and is perfect if you want a redder lip without going for a full-on red which can be quite difficult to wear! I know that this lipstick is soon to be discontinued but I have read that 'See Shear' is a good dupe for it. I also highly recommend the sheen supreme lipsticks, I own 3 and they are the most gorgeous creamy formula!

I would love to hear about everyone elses favourite MAC lipsticks!

Maz xx
