My Favourite MAC Eyeshadows

Hi Everyone!

As you can see from the picture above, I have a pretty large collection of MAC eyeshadows! They are amazing, there is a wide range of colours and finishes to suit everyone. I have lot's of shadows in my collection from various brands but the MAC ones have a special place in my heart! They are the first ones I purchased when I really got into make-up. Woodwinked was my first, followed by Satin Taupe and they are still used on a regular basis to this day! I have repurchased both of them several times! So when I sat down to write this post I wanted it to be a top 10 but I just couldn't select only 10! So here are my favourites!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

Hi Everyone!

I am a big fan of Anastasia Beverly Hills (ABH) products and decided to try the shadows as I'd heard so many great things about them online! As you can see, I have filled up a large Z Palette with 27 shadows. I love warm, neutral and purple toned colours as you can see!

Morphe Eyeshadow Swatches

Hi Everyone

Today I wanted to share my collection of Morphe shadows with you. I only have 9 but I really like them! As a fan of YouTube videos and especially Jaclyn Hill, I've heard a lot about this brand. They are very reasonably priced and offer large palettes and also single shadows like the ones I have. These shadows come in individual magnetic pans so you can add them to a palette. The shadows are the same sized as MAC shadows.

Hi everyone!

Today I thought it would be fun to share my Makeup Geek eyeshadow collection with you! As you can see, I have quite a lot and I love them! They are amazing quality and affordable! They come in individual, magnetic pans and need to be placed into a palette such as the Z palettes that I have.

Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow - Review & Swatches

Hi everyone!

So I have to confess, despite being a major make-up addict Bobbi Brown is a brand that I just haven't used much off. I've used the concealer and corrector, as most of us have, but after watching many Jaclyn Hill videos I thought that I'd give the eyeshadows a go!

So I purchased one of the four pan palettes which cost £6. They are a decent quality and have a great, large mirror on the inside of the side and a snap-shut closure. You simply pop the individual shadows out of their casing and into the palette.

I selected my eyeshadows, again based on what I've seen Jaclyn use (major fan of her)!

ROSE GOLD: Golden pink
CHAMPAGNE QUARTZ: Champagne pink
CAMEL: Medium caramel.
TOAST: Toasted peach.

Swatch on MAC NW20 skin (for reference).

Overall I have to say that the shadows are excellent quality. All four apply and blend well. Rose Gold and Champagne Quartz make excellent all-over-the-lid shades, Toast is a great transition shade and Camel is perfect for in the outer crease and for definition.

Would I purchase Bobbi Brown shadows again? Yes I probably would but I don't think that they are quite as good as MAC or Makeup Geek which are more affordable.

You can purchase the shadows from Bobbi Brown for £17.50 each.

Nars Narsissist Palette

Hi Everyone!

Today I have a quick review of the NARS Narsissist palette for you. This palette is limited edition and was previously released earlier this year, I believe. I missed out on it that time so when I saw that it was back in stock on the NARS website and quickly ordered!

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette

Hi everyone!

Today I have a review for you! This is the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette which contains 16 shadows in a mixture of matte and shimmer finishes. The packaging is in the form of a metal box with a magnetic snap-shut closure. Inside there is also a decent sized mirror. Two of the shadows (White Chocolate and Champagne Truffle) are larger in size than the other colours which is quite common with Too Faced palettes. To keep with the theme of a chocolate bar, the palette has a chocolate scent to it which is quite strong but disappears when the shadows are applied to the eyes.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream/ Gel Eyeshadows - Review & Swatches

Hi Everyone!
There has been so much hype recently surrounding the Maybelline Color Tattoo's on the Internet and they have been available to buy over in the US for quite a few month's and they are finally here in the UK! I was so excited to get them, I am a huge fan of the MAC Paint Pot's so I was hoping that I would love these too! I picked up 3 pots in the following colours:

05 - Eternal Gold

20 - Turquoise Forever

35 - On and On Bronze

There are currently 7 colours available to buy here in the UK and these 3 really stood out to me! Eternal Gold is a beautiful, more subtle colour that makes a gorgeous every-day shade. On and On Bronze is one of those classic colours that everyone needs in their kit and Turquoise Forever is a much more vibrant, daring shade that I will probably apply to my lower lash line to make my eyes pop!

SWATCHES SHOWN ON NW20 SKIN:
(L to R) On and On Bronze, Eternal Gold, Turquoise Forever
As you can see, these colours are really pigmented! The consistency is much smoothier, creamier and easier to apply than the MAC Paint Pots. I have used both my fingers and a brush to apply them and had a good result with both methods. They blend out really well too. I have tried them out over an eyeshadow primer and on their own and they wear really well, there was, however, a little bit of creasing when worn without the primer. The colour stays vibrant all day and do not require a pressed shadow to set them which is great especially if you are in a rush!

Overall, these eyeshadows are amazing! They are great quality and brilliant value for money! I will definitely be getting some more!

Please note: The Eyeshadows appear to have different names and numbers in the UK than in the US!
You can purchase them from Boots for £4.99 each.

MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow Duos

Hi All,
MAC has recently released some new Mineralize eyeshadows for 2011. The colour selection is amazing. I was given 2 of the duo's for my recent birthday in This & That and Thunder & Rain.
Here are their swatches shown on NW20 skin followed by their descriptions:

This & That: Frost beige rose/ Satin light beige
Thunder & Rain: Frost blue purple/ Satin grey

The eyeshadows have a really smooth texture and are really nicely pigmented. Mineralize eyeshadows can be used either wet or dry, when using them wet I first spray some Fix + onto my brush (the MAC 239 and 242 work well for this) then load the shadow onto the brush. The colours are much richer when applied wet but still blend well.
I am sure that This & That will be a really popular choice, the beige colour makes a great inner eye and brow highlight colour and the brown is beautiful as an all over wash of colour.
Thunder & Rain is right up my street! The purple colour is beautiful and would look great paired with Digit and Carbon to create a gorgeous purple smokey eye. The grey colour is you standard smokey grey colour that can be used with the purple or other colours such as blue and silver.
Overall these eyeshadows are great, they are quite expensive (£15.50 in the UK) but you do get quite a lot of product for your money. There are currently 10 other colour options on the MAC UK website and all colours look great when paired with each other. I think that the duo's are also especially great when you are in a rush and don't have time to look through your makeup collection to find 2 colours that work well together!
Overall 4 stars out of 5!

My Favourite Neutral Eyeshadows

Hi Everyone!
These are my favourite neutral eyeshadow colours. These are more flesh toned colours that I use as a eyeshadow base to neutralise my skin colour, as a brow highlight and as an all-over wash of colour for a more subtle look. They are also great for blending out harsh eyeshadow lines. (Swatches shown on NW20 skin).

(L to R) Bisque, Blanc Type, Brule, Dazzlelight

(L to R) Kitten, Phloof!, Shroom, Virgin

MAC BISQUE: Soft muted pinky-beige (Matte)
MAC BLANC TYPE: Creamy beige (Matte)
MAC BRULE: Soft muted creamy-beige (Satin)
MAC DAZZLELIGHT: Neutral with silver/copper reflects
STILA KITTEN: Pinky bronze
MAC PHLOOF!: Frosted off-white (Frost)
MAC SHROOM: Soft muted golden beige with opalescent shimmer (Satin)
URBAN DECAY VIRGIN: Pale shimmered nude beige

NYX Haul

NYX Cosmetics Nude On Nude Natural Look Kit 9 Eyeshadows 2 Lip Colors with Mirror and Applicator

Hi Everyone!
I really like NYX as a brand and have several of their blushes, jumbo pencils and lipglosses but have never tried their eyeshadow palettes before. I had a look on their website and found that they have quite a few small, affordable palettes such as the Nude on Nude kit. This one really stood out to me (along with the Purple smokey look kit) so I thought I'd give it a go! The kit comes with 9 eyeshadows and 2 lip colours in a drawer below along with 2 applicator brushes.
Here are the eyeshadow swatches shown on NW20 skin:. (I swatched from the top left of the palette to the bottom right).

I am really impressed with the colours, they applied smoothly and are nicely pigmented. I think that the quality of them is great considering they are from a relatively cheap palette. There is a lovely selection of neutral colours including a great highlighter shade and darker colours which are ideal to darken the crease or to use on the lashlines as well as lots of great lid colours.
Here are the swatches of the 2 lip colours. (Apologies for the poor photograph, they don't show up too well).

The 2 colours are nice but not amazing! One is quite peachy and the other is more pinky.
Overall, this is a really nice palette and is great value for money. I was surprised that the shadows where such good quality and they are definitely the best part of the palette. The lip colours are nice to have in the palette and great if you are on the go! The palette was a little smaller in size than I was expecting and the shadow sizes are quite small but for the price of the palette it is OK.
I also purchased a Jumbo Eye Pencil in Purple Velvet and 2 Lip Pencils in 848 Flower and 858 Nude Pink.
(L to R) Flower, Nude Pink, Purple Velvet
I have wanted to get the Purple Velvet jumbo pencil for a while now and it is a little darker than it looked on the site, I would describe it as an eggplant colour. I feel that it will go well with MAC shadows such as Indian Ink and Nocturnelle. The Nude Pink Lip Pencil is a great colour and reminds me a little of MAC's Dervish Lip Pencil. Flower is a bright dolly-pink. The lip pencils are also really good quality and glided onto my skin really well, I can't say as I can tell much difference in quality between the NYX pencils and the MAC pencils which is quite shocking considering the price difference (Around £10 in the UK!) Big thumbs up to NYX!

I purchased my NYX Products from Cocktail Cosmetics in the UK, they are also available directly from NYX
