Sleek Pout Polish - Review & Swatch

I have purchased a couple of things from Sleek Makeup over the past few months and I really like the brand as a whole. I was in Superdrug a few days ago and saw their Pout Polishes and thought that I'd give them a go! The pout polishes are tinted lip balms that provide you with a sheer wash of colour and also condition and protect your lips. I chose the colour 'Powder Pink' which is a really pretty medium pink colour:

The polishes contain Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Avocado Extract and Vitamins A, C and E which moisturise and condition your lips and they also contain SPF 15 to protect your lips from the sun. The pot contains 10g of product which is quite a lot and good value for money in my opinion. The texture of the product is quite glossy but not oily or sticky which is great. I love the glossy rosy tint that it gives to my lips and I think that it is perfect for work or college if you want a subtle bit of colour. I feel that the product is really moisturising and softening on the tips which is perfect for these cold winter months.

How to Paint the Ends of Your Make-up Brushes

Hi Everyone!

I thought that I would put a quick post together for you on how to paint the ends of your make up brushes. I am sure that many of you have seen the beauty guru's on YouTube with coloured ends to their brushes and it is such a great idea. I have quite a large selection of brushes, some are for my own personal use and some are for use on other people/ clients. Painting the ends of them is a great way of identifying which ones are which so that you can't get them all mixed up! You could also paint your brushes a certain colour for each different brand or one colour for face brushes and another colour for eye brushes and  if you are just painting them for fun you could do all different colours! I also think that it makes cheaper brushes look more expensive!

You will need:

Your make up brushes

Tape

Nail Varnish

Top Coat

Method:

1. First take your brushes and tape off a section at the bottom of each brush.

2. Now choose your favourite nail polish and paint the ends of the brushes, they will probably need 2 coats of polish each. If, like me, you have a lot of brushes you may want to use a drugstore nail varnish rather than a high end, more expensive one as you will find that you use up quite a lot of varnish!

3. This step is optional but I added a top coat to my brushes in order to try and reduce the chances of the polish wearing off.

4. Now leave the brushes to dry for at least and hour with their painted ends hanging over the edge of your table.

5. Once you are certain that they are dry, carefully peel off your tape.

OPI Divine Swine - Review & Swatches

Hi Everyone!

I am off into Manchester tomorrow to do some Christmas shopping with my mum so I thought that some bright, festive nails were called for! I decided to go for OPI's Divine Swine glitter polish from their Muppets Collection for Christmas 2011. Divine Swine has a magenta bade with small magenta coloured glitter and lots of large, round silver glitters too.

First I applied one coat of Seche Base to my nails. I have found in the past that glitter polishes tend to peel/ fall off quite easily if they are not layered over a solid base so I applied 1 coat of OPI Lady in Black nail polish first which is a basic, solid black colour. I then applied 2 coats of Divine Swine. The polish applied well and the glitter was pretty evenly distributed, as with most glitter polishes, this one dried really quickly. I then finished off with a coat of Seche Vite Fast Drying Top Coat.

How pretty is this polish? I love it! I wasn't sure about the black base peaking out from the sides of the glitter polish but it's growing on me! Please let me know if you have purchased any of the other glitter polishes from the Muppets Collection and what you think of them!

China Glaze Eye Candy Collection - Review & Swatches

Hi Everyone!

We really have been spoilt for choice this year with the range of glitter polishes available! China Glaze have recently released their Eye Candy Collection for Christmas 2011 which contains 6 3-D glitter polishes that are inspired by Marilyn Monroe and they all look amazing. I have picked up 3 of them so far:

Love Marilyn: Vivacious red with shimmering red particles.
Lorelei's Tiara: Sterling silver infused with blue sprinkles.
Some Like It Haute: Graphite grey with holographic glitter

Here are the names and descriptions of the other 3 polishes in the collection:

Blonde Bombshell: Glistening multi-dimensional gold flecks.
Material Girl: Posh pink with holographic bubblegum glitter.
Marry a Millionaire: Alluring amethyst with multi-tonal fibres.

Here are the swatches of the 3 polishes that I have purchased, I applied 3 coats of each colour. (Apologies for the swatching on plastic nails, busy week at college this week and not allowed to wear nail polish unfortunately!)

A Couple of Things From The MAC Glitter & Ice Colour Collection!

I stopped by the MAC counter a couple of days ago and picked up 3 things from the new Glitter and Ice holiday collection for Christmas 2011. The collection looks amazing and I love the white packaging. The collection is pretty big and I am sure that there must be something for everyone. The Christmas gift sets look great and I will definitely be added some to my Christmas wish list! These are the item that I purchased from the Holiday Colour part of the collection:

Mineralize Eyeshadow in Shimmermint:

I really like MAC's mineralize eyeshadows and I am loving the colour green at the moment so Shimmermint was a bit of a must have for me! MAC describe it as a 'pale green melange'. It has quite good colour pay off and is nice and sparkly too. I haven't had too many problems with fall out which I was expecting due to the amount of shimmer in the shadow. When I visited the MAC counter and purchased this item I was wearing a mixture of 2 Makeup Forever purple shadows in numbers 9 and 92, the MAC artist smudged Shimmermint, using a 217 brush, in the inner corners of my eye and under the lower lashline and it looked great!

Technakohl Liner in Smooth Manoeuvre:

This item was recommended to me by the MAC artist. I usually use a gel liner on my upper lashline and a pencil (usually MAC's Feline and Smoulder) on my waterlines. The MAC artist suggested this liner as it apparently sets better in the waterline and lasts longer. Smooth Manoeuvre is described as a 'black with pearl.' I have used it a couple of times now and I really like it, I think that it does last longer and glides onto the waterlines much easier than my usual pencil.

Dazzleglass in Love Alert:

MAC's Dazzleglasses are incredible! They are super sparkly and I can't have too many of them! I have had my eye on Love Alert for a while now (it is a part of the permanent line) and seen as I really like the Glitter and Ice white packaging I decided that it was time to get it! Love Alert is described as a 'raspberry red with red pearl'. It is the perfect colour for the festive season and looks great when worn alone or over a lipstick.
