NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils - Review & Swatches

(L to R) Milk, Strawberry Milk, Pots & Pans, Gold, Black Bean
(Swatches shown on NW20 skin)

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils are a unique product as they are an eyeshadow and eyeliner in one. They come in a vast array of colours and are very reasonably priced (Around £4.95 in the UK). The colours are very pigmented, as you can see from the swatch picture, and glide onto the skin without being too chalky.
I believe that Milk is the most popular colour as it is great to use on the inner corner of the eye to really open it up. I generally use the pencils as an eyeshadow base as they really make eyeshadows pop, due to their creamy formula they aren't too great when worn alone as they crease quite quickly. The application of the pencil is not too easy as the formula is quite thick, I have tried to apply them with eyeshadow brushes such as the MAC 239 and 242 but they tend to just clog up the brush! The easiest way I have found to apply them is to apply a thin layer directly onto the eye lid and then blend in using your ring finger.
NYX promote these pencils as being a great eyeshadow and eyeliner but due to their large size I don't feel that they make a very good eyeliner and wear off the water line very quickly. They can, however, be smudged along the lower lash line quite easily to give a pop of colour down there.
The NYX Jumbo Pencils are very appealing due to their low price and large colour selection. I would recommend them as an eyeshadow base as an alternative to a MAC Paint Pot but I would apply an eyeshadow primer first.
Overall 3 stars out of 5 from me!

Maz x
